Manchester Airport has closed it's one of its two runways to carry out routine maintenance work.
Until Friday February 29th Manchester's second runway - Runway 2 - will be closed for scheduled engineering work. During the maintenance period all aircraft will take off and land using Runway 1. The work has been scheduled to take place now as it is Manchester Airport's quietest period.
Manchester Airport have stated that they expect little to no delays as a result of the work. Managing Director Andrew Cornish stated: "We're firmly committed to maintaining our high levels of service to both passengers and airlines and are mindful of the impact on the community."
